This article will tell you how to warm the bathroom, and separately considered the features of the insulation of the bathroom and installation in the bathroom heated floor.

Performing a bathroom repair, you should think not only about its design, but also about the insulation. At the same time, it is necessary to clearly define the organization of the space, and choosing material for floors and walls, in addition to the color palette and aesthetics of the decor, should take into account their quality and technical characteristics. All surfaces must breathe and are resistant to moisture.

Insulated bathroom

The lack of heat and high humidity in the bathroom - a fairly common phenomenon. To eliminate these unpleasant moments, you should carefully consider the insulation of the bathroom.

The modern construction market offers a wide range of different heat-insulating materials, including:

  • Fiberglass materials;
  • Mineral wool;
  • Extruded polystyrene foam (polystyrene), etc.

Important: according to experts, the latter material, due to its high thermal insulation properties and almost zero water absorption, is several times more effective in combating dampness.

Surely everyone heard about the system "warm floor". This method allows you to evenly distribute heat, forming an atmosphere of comfort and convenience. Another option for insulating a bathroom is to install an electric, water, or a combined towel warmer.

Foam for insulating bathroom

Many experienced discomfort while in the bathroom. This is due to the fact that from the sewer shaft, exhaust in the bathroom and other gaps inside comes cool air.

In order to avoid such unpleasant sensations, the bathroom must be properly heated, using only high-quality materials:

  1. First of all, they warm the floor in the bathroom, as described below. If you plan to cover the floor with tiles, you should remember that even wetted tiles should be non-slip, or lay a special mat on the floor.
  2. Next, perform wall insulation. Insulation may be a material such as foam, not subject to the action of moisture. Mineral wool is worse suited for a bathroom, since the absorption of moisture leads to a deterioration of its properties.
    When performing insulation it is necessary to take into account that the insulation of the walls in the bathroom leads to their thickening, which reduces the available area.
    In prefabricated houses, the walls thicken outwards, so the area is not lost. There are also more expensive materials, for example - extruded foam or penofol. Since the size of the bathroom in the panel house is rather small, the cost difference will be quite small.

  3. Thermal insulation of bathroom walls includes the following steps:

    • The wall is cleaned and covered with a preparation that prevents the occurrence of the fungus;
    • Glue on the wall penofol or extruded foam;
    • On top of the glued material, moisture-resistant drywall is glued;
    • Ceramic tiles are laid over the drywall.

There is another way to insulate the walls in the bathroom:

    • A metal frame is made for which a wall profile can be used for gypsum plasterboard;

    • Lay a heater in two layers;
    • Above this design isped;
    • Two layers of moisture resistant gypsum board are glued on top, after which you can finish the wall.
  1. In addition, it may be necessary to insulate the ceiling of the bathroom, the best option is to install a suspended plasterboard ceiling. The space between the ceiling and drywall is insulated with foam plastic.

Useful: a lighter version - decorative foam elements, such as wallpaper or foam tiles.

  1. It is also important that the bathroom ventilation effectively takes the fumes that form in the house to the outside. In order to warm the ventilation, it is necessary to prevent the penetration of air through it from the street into the bathroom. This is achieved by installing special grilles on the vents with a fan that pulls the fumes out without letting outside air into the room.
  2. In any case, the sewage shaft should be insulated, since it is the source of the penetration of drafts, which draw out heat and prevent the bathroom from getting warm.

Floor heating system

Since the floor is inherently cold floor, the flooring is tiled with ceramic tiles, quite often electric mats are installed under it, which heat the floor surface, giving it the necessary temperature.

Such a system is called "warm floor", its basis are heating mats, presented on the market in various sizes and being a textile base for built-in heating elements.

In addition to electric heated floor in bathrooms, floor heating with hot water is also quite often used. But, given the small area of this room, as well as the poor quality of water treatment in domestic plumbing systems, creating a heated bathroom floor with hot water is a difficult task.

In this regard, the installation of an electric floor heating can be considered the best option for organizing floor heating in the bathroom.

Electric underfloor heating in themselves is not an autonomous heating system, it is more correct to say that they are an application to the central heating system.

Installation of a floor heating system includes several steps:

  1. First of all, prepare a dry and durable base, which can serve, the old floor in the bathroom or the newly laid cement screed;

    Installation of heated floor

  2. Next, perform the correct fastening of electrical mats on the ground.
  3. Before proceeding with the installation of an electric floor heating system, you should understand for yourself that each mat has two wires 4 meters long for connection, and the system itself operates from a 220 V electrical network.

Important: in case of need heating of walls by means of electric mats, they can work from a network with a voltage of 42 V.

  1. Electric mats have good insulation and are well protected from moisture.

The underfloor heating system can be programmed to the required heating temperature, and time intervals can also be taken into account by using a thermostat. A thermocouple is installed in the floor, which determines the temperature and leads it to the set value through the control unit.

There are a number of differences between water heating systems and warm floors, which speak in general about the superiority of the second option.

Differences warm floors, in particular, are:

  • Low installation cost;
  • The floor heating system works independently of the central heating;
  • Long service life;
  • High reliability;
  • A slight increase in floor thickness, while water heating systems raise the floor a few centimeters.

Important: despite the obvious ease of installation of a floor heating system, care should be taken when working, and to comply with all safety requirements.

That's all that I wanted to tell about the insulation of the bathroom. Properly performed insulation of this room can significantly improve the feeling of coziness and comfort that occurs when taking various water procedures, since it is difficult to call comfort in a damp, cold room.
