The festive table, of course, should be different from the everyday: a white tablecloth, elegant napkins, beautiful dishes and, of course, flowers. All this creates a festive atmosphere and a good mood in the interior. Whether it is a regular birthday, a wedding, a New Year or just a family celebration - traditionally, the feast is the main part of the holiday. We have already talked about the trends in dish decoration, and today we’ll talk about how to decorate the table with flowers.
First of all, you need not only to pick flowers beautifully, but also to think about the "functionality" of the bouquet - how to place it so that the flowers do not interfere with the conversation, obscuring the interlocutor. It is necessary to consider the size of the bouquet, its proportions, their number on the table. In short, the design of the holiday table with flowers should be thought out in advance. For example, it depends on the size of the table, where it is better to place the flower arrangement or bouquets, and how much they should be prepared. The main bouquet can be supplemented with leaves scattered around the table.
The main rule when decorating a festive table is not to block the interlocutors or the hero of the occasion with flowers, therefore it is better to place no more than 9 flowers in one vase, the height of which should not exceed the eye level, that is, it should be no higher than 20-30 centimeters. Its size depends on the size of the table and the place that is reserved for flowers.
When decorating the table, you can use almost any flowers without a strong smell. Moreover, not only traditional roses and carnations are good here, but also wild flowers, twigs with berries, lash of climbing plants, and in winter it is quite possible to use pine branches, spruces.
For decorating the festive table, flat vases and various vessels with openings for low flowers are suitable, which do not prevent guests from seeing each other and table setting. The center of the table can be decorated with a large composition of expensive flowers, and on the edges of the table to place small, combined with the main, bouquets or vases with leaves. The asymmetrical arrangement of colors looks original, for example, only at the beginning of the table. Sometimes a bouquet made of branches, leaves and one flower is more effective and appropriate to the table than a vase with expensive flowers. If you put flowers in a high vase, then it is better to put them at the end of the table. If there is not enough space at the table for flowers, then it can be decorated with loose flowers.
It is necessary to take into account when making combinations and the shape of flowers. There are simple flowers, such as asters, gerberas, simple chrysanthemums, daisies, and complex ones: dahlias and terry chrysanthemums, gladioli. Showing a little fiction and fantasy, you can make a good combination of simple-shaped flowers. By removing some of the leaves that cover the same flower, you can achieve a light, airy composition.
Creating a festive bouquet of flowers, it is necessary to take into account the "lifespan" of the plucked flowers. A rose, no matter how wonderful it is, can bloom overnight and change the entire composition beyond recognition. This also applies to tulips and other flowers. And, for example, orchids can stand for three weeks without any changes. It is also necessary to take into account how the bouquet or flower arrangement you have created will be combined with the vase you have chosen. Especially good vases made of ceramics, colored, matte or glazed, of various shapes and sizes. They look good bouquets of flowers with the addition of leaves and any plants. From glass, it is better to choose a vase of heavy, cast glass. Their noble form is especially well combined with simple in structure, elegant flowers: gerberas, sweet peas, and orchids. In the vases of glass, you can put the leaves of plants, which differ in a slim, strict form, such as leaves of camellia, iris, various ornamental herbs or just sprigs with a small number of leaves. The plant material from which the compositions are made is divided into flowers, decorative greenery, various herbs, dried flowers and branches.
To make bouquets better with half-opened flowers. Cut flowers should be in the morning. Even if you just cut flowers from a flower bed, you need to remove excess leaves and put flowers in the water for at least half an hour. The stems are cut obliquely so that the surface that absorbs water is larger. And it should be done right in the water. In the summer months, ice should be put into the water so that it stays cool longer.
According to its technique, the composition of bouquets in high vases is particularly complex compared to the installation of flowers in flat vases. Flowers in a vase should look natural, individual flowers should not disintegrate at the edges, but rather grow from its middle. To achieve a similar effect, various auxiliary means are used, for example, “Hedgehog”, or, if the vase is opaque, a soft wire that is placed inside the vase.
