  7. GARDENS OF THE XXI CENTURY 7.3. Green Architecture

Every day, architects around the world realize the importance of their role in environmental protection, they are increasingly beginning to implement the so-called "green" projects. In addition to reducing fuel consumption, a successful green architecture improves the comfort of designed buildings, restoring the natural environment, which certainly contributes to protecting the ecology of our planet.

Sometimes they design a building, a garden in which is an integral part so much that one cannot say where one ends and the other begins. Most often, these are expressive architecture private homes-gardens. They are called "green architecture".

An example is the House in the Hill (Underhill) by architect Arthur Quarmby, built in 1974 in Yorkshire, England, or the Nine Houses by architect Peter Wetsh (Appendix, fig. B 23).

Another interesting building of this direction is the “Residence Brunsell”, located on the ocean in California, USA. Architect Obi Bauman tried to subordinate the house as much as possible to the surrounding landscape, seeking an organic fusion with nature. Based on this, we can assume that the architecture of the 21st century, on the one hand, will strive for harmony with nature and become “green”, increasingly merging with the landscape, which will most likely draw inspiration from modern painting, sculpture, decorative art.
