The organization of the execution of working models by students at the stages of project search, along with graphic sketching, becomes a creative method of variant design. Working mock ups a student’s vigorous activity associated with visualization, mental “measuring” of the model, finding relationships between parts, checking various points of view and relations between internal and external space. The working layout makes the design clear and becomes the subject of analysis.
Working layout is used in the simulation of various programs, tasks.
When urban planning prototyping achieved unity planning concept and the spatial idea of building, the relationship with the natural or urban planning situation.
Urban layout, as a rule, is performed on a relief subbase. The layout of the village (III course) and residential area (IV course) determines the planning structure, the nature of the building, the number of floors, orientation, transport links. Special opportunities for prototyping are opened when designing the reconstruction of historic urban areas — including new buildings or a separate object in a complex urban planning system. Layouts of supporting buildings allow you to achieve convincing visual links between the old and the new in the ensemble
The spatial-spatial layout of the projects of clubs, schools, cinemas contributes to the search for a three-dimensional plastic representation of the structure, its external architectural image.
The layout of the interior of a public building allows us to show the multi-level development of the space. Layouts of spectacular buildings reveal the construction of the halls themselves. In the layouts, the relationship between the inner and the outer is revealed: the plastic form of the enclosing surfaces, like a membrane, simultaneously builds inner space and separates it from the outer space.
When designing large-span structures on the V course and on the diploma, the structural structure of the coating is mocked up.
The layout of the structures displays the supporting bases of cellular objects: a wall frame consisting of interconnected planar elements, or a skeleton frame consisting of linear or core elements. The layout is used for laboratory checks of the effect of insolation, natural light, and acoustics on the shaping of an object. So, to verify the decisions of the upper natural light in a museum or industrial building, fragmentary models are carried out, which brings the training closer to scientific research.
Layouting as a method of searching for the structure of a structure requires further development in an architectural school, playing an important role in shaping the student’s structural thinking [18].
Spatial variant modeling also has a formative effect, and therefore it is desirable that it accompany all stages of design and at all levels of education.
The material for the layouts are mainly cardboard and paper. The layout on a small scale has a drawback - it is perceived mostly from above, from a bird's eye view, and not from real points of view. This deficiency is weakened when performing layouts on a large scale and in natural materials [19].
Execution of large layouts allows you to apply filming: the architecture of the complex.
