Studies on the formation of images, actions and concepts in humans by psychologists and educators give grounds to speak about the didactic effect of subject modeling. Subject-based spatial modeling or prototyping as a method that accompanies the creative stages of the AP is an active learning tool that has advantages over graphic means.
The student only gradually learns to transform the mental image of the future object into a graphic image, whereas during the performance of the subject activity - prototyping - this happens rather soon. In the layout, the author’s creative idea materializes, gets a visual expression, whereas in graphic modeling the design is perceived in a comparison of the plan, section and facade.
Architectural models are made from a different material than a natural object, they imitate only some of the properties of the original and therefore qualitatively differ from it. Basically, they reflect spatial, less often plastic features of an object at a certain scale. Subject and spatial modeling or prototyping stimulates creative thought and triggers new ideas.
The layout is carried out on the basis of the following objectives: 1) to promote creative search; 2) to be a geometrical visual check of the spatial and spatial, compositional and constructive construction of an object or group of objects - in these cases it has the character of a working layout; 3) to serve for laboratory checks and experimental study of the object, the structural structure, the effects of natural phenomena — here, the models approach the analog models; 4) to serve as a substantive illustration for the control check of the final result of the design, then the layout has the character of a clean layout and allows you to simulate the conditions of perception of the object (Figure 8).

In the methodological sense, the most productive working prototyping, carried out with the aim of finding a composite solution, and structural prototyping for laboratory tests.
