  The purpose of mastering the discipline

The discipline "Compositional modeling", along with other disciplines of the professional cycle, focuses on the competence model of education. Discipline has project competencies of PCs 1-5 and communicative competences of PCs 9, PCs 11, PCs 17. The summary of competences is as follows:

PROJECT COMPETENCE:

• PC1 - the ability to develop architectural projects in accordance with the functional, aesthetic, structural, technical, economic and other fundamental requirements;

• PK2 - the ability to use imagination, to think creatively;

• PC3 - the ability to mutually coordinate various factors, integrate various forms of knowledge and skills in the development of design solutions;

• PC4 - the ability to demonstrate spatial imagination, developed artistic taste;

• PC5 - the ability to apply knowledge of related and related disciplines in the development of projects;

COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE:

• PK9 - the ability to correctly represent the architectural intent;

• PK11 - the ability to transmit accumulated knowledge and skills in educational programs;

• PK17 - the ability to act with knowledge of historical and cultural precedents in local and world culture, in related spheres of spatial arts.

The purpose of mastering the discipline is to familiarize with the main types of composition, properties and laws of volumetric-spatial forms as means of solving compositional problems in practical and design work.

The tasks of mastering the discipline are to provide the basis for the development of independence in the formulation of compositional tasks, as well as to give skills for performing sketch layouts in the communication process, which contributes to the development of three-dimensional representation.

The discipline "Composite modeling" is one of the main professional forming disciplines, combining the developed theoretical positions with a system of practical exercises, which makes the course an essential element of architectural education.

Discipline should form a methodological basis of professional activity at a level sufficient for the application of objective laws of building volumetric-spatial forms in the design. This is, first of all, the concept of the basic properties of volumetric-spatial forms, means of compositional organization, as well as the concept of the main types of composition. Mastering these provisions provides the primary level of compositional knowledge and skills necessary to consciously solve design problems in the early stages of architectural design.

The workshop on discipline is built on the principle of gradual complication of the task and is implemented in the form of layouts. For a better understanding and assimilation of the “common” process, it is dissected into separate stages, which makes it possible to gradually focus attention on the main goal of each compositional task.

The main task is to focus on the artistic aspects of the architectural composition, deliberately omitting a number of components (function, construction, economy).

The model form of the assignment underlines the fact that the laws governing the construction of compositional exercises are objective and do not depend on style trends in architecture.
